Growing up can be so hard, Yet children really try

To please the adults of their world, Sometimes I wonder why

They plead and tap and tug on shirts, But are blatently ignored

And if they get upset at this, Reproof is their reward

They do not understand your world, But if “you” think not of theirs

When you are old and need their time, They’ll say to you “who cares”

As you sit there in your rocking chair, Lonely sorrow in your heart

Your actions taught them indifference, your worlds are far apart

You realize your buzy life, could have spared those moments now

But it’s to late and their to busy, Now, you survive somehow
